Industrias Haceb S.A. is a South American company manufacturing domestic appliances. Attracted by the expertise in designing cooling and refrigerating appliances, Haceb turned to WAACS for their new range of freestanding refrigerators. For this project, WAACS was invited to take a deep dive into the heart of Haceb’s operations, visiting their headquarters in Medellin, Colombia.
Design globally, act locally
Through shopping excursion with Haceb’s design and marketing team, WAACS gained better understanding of the brand’s identity and the South American market. Armed with this knowledge, WAACS created a range of refrigerator designs that are tailored to Haceb’s manufacturing process and that better fit to the South-American market than the global platforms shipped from Asia.
The WAACS story
WAACS helped ship several global appliance platforms that can be adopted to local needs. The knowledge and expertise gained with global platforms has been used to develop a range of refrigerators specifically for the South American market. Globalization has its pros and cons, and this project shows that there is also a future for appliances that are locally produced and specifically designed for local needs.
