The latest addition to the WAACS design toolbox: 3D knitting! France’s premium orthopaedic brand, Gibaud, challenged us to turn their plain functional and unremarkable compressive supports into a functionally optimized range that would appeal to both young and old.
The use of 3D knitting techniques similar to Nike’s Flyknit and Adidas’ Primeknit has made it all possible. The ortheses have been made to form a perfect anatomical fit. The design incorporates muscle flow for optimal compression and support of movement around the joints. Last, but not least, we delivered a range or ortheses that come in safe dark colors when stationary, but turn into a dynamic display of bright colors when wearing them. This 3D textile stretches as you move, revealing the bright colors in the bottom layer. Check out the WAACS story here.
