WAACS is specialized in the development of smart kitchen appliances. We help companies in many different ways. We create design strategies for both existing kitchen brands and start-ups. At the start of every project WAACS helps you to ask the sharpest questions and to dig deeper to truly understand user experience. With these insights, we come up with meaningful solutions that go beyond existing trends, beyond the “new-to-be-new”.
Coffee classics
WAACS has worked a lot on coffee machine design since we designed the Senseo together with Sara Lee/DE for Philips. The Senseo coffee machine design both reinvigorated the consumer market and increased profit margins. New life was breathed into the standard coffee brewing process in millions of kitchens worldwide, surpassing all expectations. Senseo became a true Dutch design classic. We also worked for ETNA on their Dorado vending machine. Here, the focus was on improving usability and understanding the needs of people who are using the machines. Or in this case: the people who decide on the purchase and keep them running!
Cooktops, hobs, ovens and microwaves
By using consumer insights WAACS was able to come up with a completely new concept for ATAG and transformed a professional oriental wok burner into a consumer product for at home: the Fusion Volcano Wok burner. We also worked on induction innovations and several other cooktop related projects for ATAG. But we don’t tend to limit ourselves. We are also experienced in the design of gas hobs, hoods, microwaves and ovens.
Complete user-experience in the kitchen
Being connected and smart has become more and more important. We worked on several connected kitchen innovations, such as UNITO’s smart water system. The sleek modern faucet comes with a control panel that offers a luxury of options just below the surface. Combining the UNITO smart water system and the UNITO smart faucet allows users to tap up to six different types of water with the press of a finger.
Smart and connected kitchen innovations
WAACS creates new market opportunities by translating consumer insights it finds into concrete product ideas. We have successfully applied this method to a variety of kitchen appliances we designed. By visualizing concepts we help managers, marketeers and engineers to jointly create new strategies. Solutions that were visualized were easily prioritized from ‘low hanging fruit’ or ‘quick wins’ to mid and long term developments (to even dream scenarios). We have applied these techniques to a wide variety of kitchen appliances ranging from faucets, fridges, ovens, microwaves, cooktops and white goods design.
